So you're looking for rock singing lessons.
You've tried your local teacher - but that's all classical and lip trills, right?
You want to absolutely WAIL.
It just so happens that I've been providing rock singing lessons for more than a decade, along with my own personal experience as a rock singer of over 20 years.
So what is the "key" to great rock singing?
Is it compression?
Fry?
Edge?
Twang?
Belting?
Yelling?
I wish I could give you some fancy answer that gets you all pumped up about rock singing lessons, but the truth is much simpler, and much less impressive than saying it's some special technique that you can only get from me, or you'll only get from my singing course...
... let's face it, that would be total bullshit.
And I'm Aussie, we don't really do bullshit.
The true key to all great rock singing, and what you're actually looking for from rock singing lessons - is a rock solid foundation; The Four Vocal Fundamentals.
- Forward Placement
- Height in the vocal tract
- Mixed Tonality
- "All in one flow"
I'm serious, just these four simple thing.
But I'm going to guess you've been spending hours, days, weeks, MONTHS trawling YouTube and filling your head with all kinds of fancy sounding, and ultimately completely useless, terms and techniques like curbing, cry, edge, twang, compression, belting, grit, singing like a dying cat, supporting, mixed voice, taking chest voice as high as you can.
And on the surface, they make sense, right?
You can hear the YouTube guru guy doing it, so it absolutely MUST be the secret!
But you try it...
... and try it...
... and try it again...
But it doesn't work.
Maybe you've just got a bad voice?
Maybe you don't have what it takes to be a great singer?
Maybe your voice is broken?
I hear you - I had absolutely every single one of these questions for many years as I was taking singing lessons.
I think I actually ended up as a WORSE singer after taking singing lessons for nearly 10 years then when I started as a totally green beginner.
I was confused and frustrated.
Broke.
Disappointed.
Angry.
And my head was full of every single trick, term, technique, concept, secret you can imagine; not to mention having a shelf full of the absolute best, most famous, most expensive singing courses you can find.
But I simple SUCKED as a singer no matter what I tried.
No matter which new teacher or guru I went to that shared their magic 'secret' for how they became great singers.
Because ultimately, my foundation sucked.
It's kind of like throwing a fresh coat of paint on a pile of rubble - it's still a pile of rubble, right?
You've gotta set up your foundation. Your walls. Your structure. Your base. Your roof. Your plumbing. Your wiring.
And THEN, only THEN - do you add the fun fancy stuff and "paint" so to speak.
The Four Vocal Fundamentals
You might be surprised to learn that every single trick, term, technique and vocal concept out there relates back to just one of these four simple fundamentals.
A bright forward placement brings the voice out of the throat and centres your resonance. Height in the vocal tract allows you to resonate with your full tonal range. "All in one flow" allows your vocal folds to continue vibrating instead of starting and stopping every two seconds... like my old Jeep.
And finally, mixed tonality allows you to 'ping' your resonance in full voice in EVERY single register of the voice so that you've got one connected range from top to bottom and vice versa.
Three octaves of range in full voice instead of a few tones in chest voice, then a few notes in falsetto.
Honestly, if I had to give you just ONE secret to all great rock singing, it's to absolutely MASTER the four vocal fundamentals - build that rock solid foundation so that you can then design the most colourful voice of your dreams.
Watch the video below to learn how I went from being in the exact same position you're stuck in right now; frustrated, out of ideas, losing hope as a singer - to the super pro voice you'll hear in the "before and after" you'll see in the video.
But one better than that, add your details below the video and I'll send you my own personal Vocal Blueprint - the KEY to singing in full voice in EVERY register:
