If you've been trying to work out how to become a good singer - I bet you're feeling pretty overwhelmed with the sheer amount of information, terms, concepts, methods, courses and teachers out there all vying for your attention, right?
But no matter how many lip trills you've practiced - you just don't seem to be learning how to become a good singer in a PRACTICAL sense, right?
It's one thing to make funny sounds - but what about actually applying all of this in real songs?
The answer is actually simpler than you're expecting, and it comes down to three basic steps I'm about to share with you.
First up, voice really doesn't work in the same way that your biceps do when you go to the gym to build big muscles.
It's really a game of better habits and better choices.
Not brute strength or power, but habits and choices.
And the first of these really needs to be the basic fundamental of connecting head voice and chest voice into ONE voice, from top to bottom and back with no breaks, no cracks and no flips. It's easier than you're thinking, and I'll show you right here - how to connect head and chest voice [VIDEO]
Secondly, we want to keep things as SIMPLE as we possible can.
Instead of delving right into formants, harmonics, overtones and m0, m1, f1, blah blah blah - let's just start with a set of three simple and practical steps.
The first is to direct your sound into the BACK of the head.
it's a weird instruction, right?
But the back of your head where the soft palate raises up into the pharynx is really your resonant space as a singer - just like the soundhole of an acoustic guitar.
Sure, the mechanism is a bit different, but the premise is exactly the same.
Vibration excites air and becomes resonance and soundwaves in an echo chamber.
So instead of trying to force your voice out of the mouth and pushing and straining to hit higher notes, instead, what you need to do is alter your vowel to match the changing frequencies of your pitch.
Again, let's say that in a simpler way;
Sing into the back of your head.
