You might think you have a whole host of issues as a singer - compression, support, vowels, placement, pitch, consonants; but the truth is, there's actually only THREE things that you can screw up as a singer - and these three common singing mistakes are always the culprit.

The first is probably the most common question I get here in my studio - "how do I hit that note??"

If you've seen my YouTube channel, there's a bunch of "Chris Cornell" high D5's and higher on the channel through most of my videos, a bunch of confident "Peter Steele" low D2's in my videos and covers and you're probably thinking - how the HELL do you hit such a crazy range of notes so naturally?

I have to say, it really wasn't natural to begin with.

It's taken MANY years of training - and a holy heckload of technique to make this happen.

But this isn't REALLY your issue though, right?

You CAN actually hit those high notes in head voice, right?

So, the real issue here isn't how to HIT the notes, but simply how to sound GOOD while doing them.

It's a very different solution when you pose the right question, yeah?

The first issue you need to fix is simply being able to sing the pitch of the note you're going for - period. Whether it's head voice, falsetto, chest voice, vocal fry or however you're able to comfortably hit the pitch you want.

Secondly, we need to sound COOL while doing it, right? This is where all those techniques we just discussed come into play - vowel modification, placement, tongue position, support etc.

And finally, we have sustainability and repetition - you need to hit this note 20 times in a row without breaking a sweat for it to be a real solution to issue 1 and issue 2 in a real sense, right? So let's work these three issues out in this free vocal training video:
