I am not your rolling wheel
AA-y-AA-mn-AH-ch-OE-r-OE-l-AY-nw-EE-l (modify as per first break, so "wide" - EH and AW)
I am the highway
AA-y-AY-mth-OE h-AA-w-AY
^ Now, the latter chorus is in the middle of that fourth octave, SO, we need to narrow our vowel around the A4/B4 (depending on your voice)
Basically, AY becomes EH then IH then EH again - and, AH becomes AW and OE and AW again.
Try it yourself by singing an AY vowel like the word "hey" - sing up a major scale (or hell, just slide up in your range without worrying about the actual notes) - you'll hit some sort of break or louder section, right??
Instead, go for EH horizontal in the mouth instead of AY vertically, and you'll notice the pitch shifts up into the back of the head where the soft palate is - this is your first formant space!!
If you're sick of trying to work all of this out on your own - basically vocal algebra, right? And you're ready to take your singing to the next leve - join me below for the Vowel Modification 101 singing course (and bonus Support Booster!)
